The distribution of the apartment from a central space formed by the kitchen and the living-dining room is the key in this small construction, since it creates a transversal space with great brightness, transparency and comfort, which allows connecting the interior with the exterior through large sliding glass openings. Although the total area of the apartment is only 45 m2, the optimization of the spaces and the double interaction achieved between the outside and the inside mean that its temporary inhabitants enjoy a feeling of spaciousness with a total integration into the landscape.
A total of four apartments are installed, distributed in such a way as to respect the existing vegetation as much as possible and the privacy between them. The construction system used is the sandwich panel of large format with a light frame of glued wood, which makes it possible to achieve, on the one hand, a high efficiency and sustainability of the apartment thanks to the insulation incorporated in the panel, and of the another, some quality finishes. The main virtues of these panels are their dimensional stability, total tightness and a high degree of vapor diffusion, which make them an excellent material for passive or high energy efficiency constructions. It is worth noting the speed of construction, in just four months, which was achieved thanks to the modular construction process.
The work was selected in the 16th edition of the Catalunya Construction Awards in the category of Innovation in construction.
